Smart Starts for Students Fund: The Penquis Smart Starts for Students Fund assists families in the greater Piscataquis area to receive much needed basic school supplies and ensures that all students get a Smart Start to the school year. We invite you to participate in this year’s fundraising campaign which will be held from June 1 – July 31, 2011.
What is the fund’s goal? The goal is to provide supplies to elementary, middle and high school students attending the five school districts in the Piscataquis area (MSAD #4, #41, #46, #68 and Union #60. Parents register their students to receive a starter pack of supplies, which may include pencils, pens, crayons, markers, paper binders, notebooks, etc. These items allow students to begin the school year feeling prepared and ready to learn. Families in need. Last year the Smart Starts for Students Fund provided support to 215 families or 428 students. With current economic conditions, more families may rely on us for much needed assistance in getting their students ready for the school year. Please help.
